The abandoned ghost town of Gilman, Colorado is now designated as a SuperFund site by the EPA.
It’s a fascinating place where it appears that the town’s occupants just upped and left. Vehicles and mining equipment are still present and look as they did when the mines were shut down in 1984.
There are complete neighborhoods of abandoned homes filled with personal belongings and the place is supposedly quite haunted although I was unable to find any ghosts.
Gilman sits high up on a small mountain road above the Eagle River and although it is not very accessible, it has one hell of a view.
